“Arsenal is building a team that no one will like to play against…I tried to sign him but he told me he’s an Arsenal fan, signing such player automatically made you undefeatable, I’m happy for them anyway”: Pep Guardiola reacts to Arsenal latest signing as player has ‘everything agreed’ to join Gunners.

Arsenal is building a team that no one will like to play against…I tried to sign him but he told me he’s an Arsenal fan, signing such player automatically made you undefeatable, I’m happy for them anyway”: Pep Guardiola reacts to Arsenal latest signing as player has ‘everything agreed’ to join Gunners.

Arsenal have overtaken Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko, according to Belgian outlet Gazet van Antwerpen.

The Gunners are eager to strengthen their attacking options this summer to enhance their prospects of a stronger title challenge next season. The Belgium international has been on their radar for some time. Although Arsenal has not yet reached an agreement with Bakayoko or PSV, a deal appears feasible, with a transfer fee of around €45 million likely to persuade the Dutch club to part with one of their star players.

Bakayoko, 21, had an impressive 2023-24 season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 33 league games. He also contributed one goal and one assist in eight Champions League matches. Fellow Belgian Romelu Lukaku has recently praised Bakayoko, calling him ‘incredible’ and predicting that he could surpass Lukaku’s own achievements if he continues on his current path.

Primarily playing on the right wing, Bakayoko would face stiff competition from Bukayo Saka if he were to join Arsenal, making it difficult for him to secure a guaranteed spot in the starting XI. This factor could influence Bakayoko’s decision, as he is likely to favor a move where he can play regularly, potentially causing Arsenal to miss out on signing him.

Despite this, Arsenal remains keen on Bakayoko, recognizing his quality and potential to add valuable depth to their attacking lineup. However, few 21-year-olds are willing to risk limited playing time.

Currently, Bakayoko is at the European Championship with Belgium, having played 33 minutes so far. He is expected to replace the suspended Dodi Lukebakio against Ukraine on Wednesday. The PSV star hopes to impress potential suitors at the tournament, while Arsenal continues to monitor his performances before making a final decision.
