Arsenal have stepped up their transfer activities over the past few days in order to add the finishing touches to their squad before deadline day.
The Gunners are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Mikel Merino to the Emirates Stadium from Real Sociedad.
Arsenal have also been busy on the outgoings front. The Gunners have already let several first-teamers leave this summer, and several more could soon follow.
TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has now reported that Arsenal are confident that they’ll reach an agreement to let one of their players join a Premier League rival.
Arsenal and Nottingham Forest optimistic of Eddie Nketiah breakthrough
The player in question is Eddie Nketiah, who appears to be closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest.
Earlier on Wednesday, David Ornstein reported that Forest were close to agreeing a fee with Arsenal for Nketiah.
Now, Crook has claimed on the talkSPORT website that both Arsenal and Forest are confident of coming to an agreement over the 25-year-old.
The Gunners are reportedly looking for a fee of around £30million for Nketiah, and it looks as though talks are heading in the right direction.
In addition, Arsenal currently don’t have any plans to replace the striker should he make the move to the City Ground, added the transfer insider.
Crook also posted on X, reiterating that there is “optimism on both sides” regarding Nketiah’s potential move to the 1978 and 1979 European Cup winners.
