The murmurs surrounding Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns will continue until a resolution is reached. Andrew Berry made it clear that he and the team have no interest in trading Garrett, but Garrett himself has made it known he will not entertain any sort of extension with the Browns. With that in mind, it appears the Browns’ hands are tied and it would be best for all involved if they just traded him and embraced a full rebuild.
While many have labeled the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills as teams that make a lot of sense for Garrett in terms of him wanting to play for a contender, as well as both teams needing help at pass rusher, a new team has emerged. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report predicts that the Los Angeles Chargers will be the tea that trades for Garrett.
“Based on Garrett’s demand to hear a winning plan from the Browns, his most aggressive suitors will be playoff-caliber squads looking to load up for the 2025 season,” Moton writes. “The Chargers could be one of those clubs. With $70.4 million in cap space and coming off an 11-6 campaign, they can give Garrett a new deal and sell him on a brighter future in Los Angeles, one that involves postseason appearances. Cleveland can use the draft capital to restock its roster with young talent on rookie contracts. In the No. 2 spot, it can also think about taking Penn State product Abdul Carter to replace Garrett on the edge.”
As previously stated, it makes sense for the Browns to move Garrett at this point. They aren’t close to competing for a Super Bowl, so they may as well get all they can for Garrett and start completely over with a ton of draft capital. Should the Chargers be a team that calls, the Browns should answer and begin the process of finding him a new home.
