Ravens will not tender CB Christian Matthew
Christian Matthew was signed by the Ravens in early 2024 but missed all of last season with an injury suffered in training camp.
On Friday morning, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens have informed cornerback Christian Matthew that they will not be tendering him ahead of next week’s free agency. The former seventh-round pick of the Cardinals in 2022 will now hit the free agent market after zero games played in Baltimore.
Matthew spent a season and a half with the Cardinals before being released in October of 2023. He would be signed to the Chicago Bears practice squad one day later where he’d finish out the remainder of the season. Following the regular season, he was not signed to a reserve/future contract.
The Ravens signed Matthew on January 16th, 2024. On the 29th, he was signed to a reserve/future contract. Unfortunately, Matthew suffered a season-ending injury in training camp and would be placed on injured reserve roughly a week before the start of the regular season.
In two healthy seasons, Matthew has three career starts in 20 games played. He has career totals of 20 tackles and three pass breakups.
