Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Drake Stoops has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2025 NFL regular season due to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
Despite the suspension, Stoops is permitted to participate in training camp and preseason games without restriction.
Stoops, 25, is the son of legendary former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops. After a standout six-year collegiate career at Oklahoma—culminating in a 2024 season with 84 receptions for 962 yards and 10 touchdowns—he joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad and signed a reserve/futures contract with the team in January 2025.
The suspension poses a significant challenge for Stoops as he vies for a spot on the Rams’ 53-man roster. With key departures in the receiving corps, including Cooper Kupp, the Rams are in a rebuilding phase at the wide receiver position. Stoops’ absence in the first two games could impact his standing on the team, especially as other receivers have the opportunity to step up during his suspension.
The Rams have not publicly commented on Stoops’ suspension. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, they will need to address the gap left by Stoops’ absence and evaluate their options within the receiving unit.
