Deion Sanders Shuts Down Rumors About High-Profile QB Replacing Shedeur at Colorado

Posted on April 15, 2025 by admin

Boulder, CO — Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has made it crystal clear: the Buffaloes aren’t entertaining the idea of bringing in a rumored high-profile quarterback to replace his son, Shedeur Sanders, once he departs for the NFL.

Amid swirling speculation over Colorado’s future under center, Coach Prime decisively addressed the rumors, stating that the program has its own plan — and it doesn’t include the big-name quarterback recently linked to the team.

Don Hasselbeck, former Super Bowl champion, ex-Giant, and father of two NFL quarterbacks, has died at 70 — the cause of death has just been revealed.

The Smart Move? Re-signing Dalton Risner.

“Let me be real clear,” Sanders said during a recent media session. “We’re not looking at that guy. We’ve got a direction we’re going in, and that’s already set in motion. Don’t believe everything you read.”

While Sanders didn’t name the quarterback in question, reports had connected Colorado to a handful of top-tier transfer portal options, including former five-star recruits and high-performing starters looking for new homes. The buzz intensified as Shedeur Sanders prepares for what is widely expected to be his final college season before declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.

But Coach Prime’s message was unmistakable: Colorado isn’t scrambling.

“We’re building something here — not just a team, but a culture,” he said. “We don’t chase names. We develop talent. We’re going to be just fine.”

Insiders close to the program say the Buffaloes are confident in their current quarterback room, which includes promising underclassmen and incoming recruits who’ve been developing behind the scenes. With a revamped offensive line and new weapons at the skill positions, Colorado appears to be laying the foundation for a post-Shedeur future that doesn’t rely on outside star power.

Shedeur Sanders, who transferred from Jackson State alongside his father, has become the face of Colorado football. In 2023, he threw for over 3,200 yards and 27 touchdowns despite playing behind one of the most pressured offensive lines in the country. His return for the 2024 season is expected to be one of the biggest stories in college football, especially as the Buffs enter the Big 12 with heightened expectations.

As for who steps up next? Coach Prime isn’t saying — yet. But one thing’s for sure: it won’t be the guy fans and pundits have been buzzing about.

“Trust me,” Sanders added with a grin. “We know what we’re doing.”
