The Milwaukee Bucks have the chance to make the blockbuster trade of the offseason, as Giannis Antetokounmpo is open to exploring joining other teams.
Fansided’s Christopher Kline proposed the Bucks start talking with the Houston Rockets, and send Antetokounmpo there in return for a young star duo. The proposed trade would look a little something like this:
Rockets get: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks get: Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, 2025 first-rounder (No. 10 overall via Phoenix Suns), a future first-rounder, several lesser assets to be named
“Giannis fits the ethos of Ime Udoka, who prioritizes defensive intensity and execution above all else,” Kline wrote. “Also, after all those years of feuding with James Harden, it would be mildly ironic and very funny if Giannis is the next superstar tasked with guiding the Rockets into the future. What if he wins a championship in Houston, unlike Harden? So many fun narrative twists.”
Antetokounmpo to the Rockets has been a narrative from fans and analysts for a while now. Even if they don’t go with the proposed trade above, the Rockets have more than enough assets in picks and young stars to get Antetokounmpo on their team.
Overall, this could be a good trade for both sides. The Bucks get a jump start on their rebuild, and the Rockets finally get their superstar to hopefully lead them to the NBA Finals. Come draft night, this might be the trade everyone is watching out for.
