Aaron Rodgers is on the hunt for a new team, and four contenders have emerged to snap up the former MVP.
Aaron Rodgers will not be on the New York Jets next season. New Jets GM Darren Mougey vowed to address the quarterback situation, and as such, decided to part ways with Rodgers.
One NFL analyst has been critical of the Jets’ decision to get rid of Rodgers. The former MVP had informed the Jets he intended to play for them next season.
But the franchise decided to make a bold move and start fresh under a new regime of Mougey and new Jets coach Aaron Glenn.
As for Rodgers, he must find a new team soon. It appears a few teams have an interest in him, and he could help revive them as much as they could do the same for him.
Aaron Rodgers’ potential landing spots revealed
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, there are four teams that are considering signing Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
Leading the pack are the Cleveland Browns, who look to revamp after Myles Garrett demanded a trade. They are followed up by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans.
Aaron Rodgers could help all four teams turn their fortunes around. But only if he is able to improve upon his dire performances over the last two seasons.
He missed the entirety of the 2023 NFL season after getting injured on opening day, and put up an abysmal performance in the 2024 season, leading the Jets to a 5-12 record.
Is Rodgers worth the gamble?
It’s hard to say this about a former three-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner, but Aaron Rodgers is not the sure thing he once was.
Gone are the days of Rodgers putting up historic numbers and leading his team to a conference championship game through sheer force of will.
Any of the above teams would be taking a big risk signing Rodgers. He has the resume to back up his credentials, but he is a different player than the one we saw dominate the NFL years ago.
However, that doesn’t mean he can’t get it back. Perhaps Rodgers will use his next stint to show fans that it was the environment in the Jets camp that made things too difficult for him.
