Jets Trade Of Garrett Wilson Rumors Killed By Aaron Rodgers Move..
As the weeks went by to close out the 2024-25 season, an ugly rumor began to spread around the halls of the New York Jets facility. …
One that may have changed the course of the franchise forever.
As New York stumbled to a five-win finish, rumors ran rampant about the team’s top wide receiver Garrett Wilson becoming stale with his quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The rumors grew so much that some reports stated Wilson would want to request a trade from Gang Green if Rodgers was back on the roster for 2025.
New York won’t have to worry about any trade request from their top receiver anymore. And their latest roster announcement made that clear.
With the team’s announcement of their intentions to move on from Rodgers this offseason in one way or another, the Jets have essentially chosen their young standout out wide over a four-time NFL MVP.
And it seems that is how the Ohio State product is viewing things as well.
“Rodgers’ departure greatly increases the chances of Garrett Wilson’s return,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini wrote Sunday morning. Cimini later cited “tension” between the two that went back all the way to training camp this past offseason and bubbled back up later in the year.
The trade of Davante Adams was thought to drive a further wedge between the quarterback and receiver – Wilson had fewer targets than Adams for the final month of the regular season.

Wilson was the first receiver in Jets history to record over 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. Despite his on-field success, though, he has never been on an NFL team that has won more than seven games in a season.
The former Offensive Rookie of the Year will have another quarterback throwing him the ball this season – his ninth in four seasons.
But while that instability alone may have been enough to ask for a new deal, the 24-year-old appears more inclined to return for another season with the Jets now.
The Jets just killed a rumor.
All they had to do was move on from the quarterback that Garrett Wilson may have simply not wanted to play with anymore.
