It is no secret that the Green Bay Packers will search for a top wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love this offseason. They will need to solve the position before the beginning of 2025.
The Green Bay Packers could consider trading for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. Earlier this week, he demanded a trade from Seattle. He has one year left on his contract, and the Packers may need to grant him an extension if they trade for Metcalf.
Fox Sports’ Henry McKena predicts that the Green Bay Packers will sign former divisional rival Stefon Diggs in free agency.
Stefon Diggs played for the Minnesota Vikings between 2015 and 2019. Following the 2019 season, he was traded from the Vikings to the Buffalo Bills. After the 2023 season, Diggs was traded from Buffalo to the Houston Texans. Stefon Diggs is now a free agent, and it appears that the Texans may not re-sign him this offseason.
Fox Sports’ Henry McKenna expects the former Vikings wide receiver will sign with the Green Bay Packers this offseason. McKenna said:
“Diggs’ days as a WR1 are probably over—man, that happened fast, didn’t it?—but in the Packers scheme, he could put together a respectable 1,000-yard season. He’d also provide some veteran dependability to a receiving group that requires it.”
Stefon Diggs is 31 years old. He appeared in only eight games for the Houston Texans last season due to a ruptured ACL. Diggs caught 47 receptions last season, totaling 496 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 10.6 yards per reception. He was targeted 64 times.
Stefon Diggs may not be the ideal option for the Packers’ number one wide receiver position. However, the Green Bay Packers require someone who will demand the football when the game is on the line. Diggs outperforms everyone on the Packers roster, whether they want to admit it or not.
Jayden Reed would be the number two wide receiver in this scenario. If they do not want to pursue the former Vikings wide receiver, they could trade for Metcalf or search elsewhere for additional wide receiving help.
