Patriots Make a Move to Replace David Andrews: New England About to Land Vikings Center

Posted on March 14, 2025 by admin

The New England Patriots unfortunately cut ties with David Andrews yesterday after spending nine years with the organization. Now, for the first time in a long time, the Patriots need a center, and the opportunity to sign an experienced one may have just knocked on their door. The Minnesota Vikings released center Garrett Bradbury after being the Vikings’ starting center for six years.

The Vikings recently made plans to sign Ryan Kelly, who was the starting center for the Indianapolis Colts, meaning that they would most likely part ways with Bradbury. It was first reported by Chad Graff of the Athletic that the Patriots would most likely be interested in Bradbury if he did end up getting released. Then, a few hours later, Adam Schefter tweeted that the Vikings were going to release Bradbury, and that opened up speculation of whether the Patriots would make a move.

Bradbury was the Vikings’ first-round pick back in 2019. Since then, he has started every game he has played in and he even has recorded two catches for 17 yards in his career as well. He also only has 23 penalties in his six years in the league, averaging just under four per year.

Bradbury had to deal with a lot of different quarterbacks in his time in Minnesota. Kirk Cousins, Josh Dobbs, Sam Darnold, and a few other quarterbacks have gotten to receive a snap from Bradbury. He has dealt with experienced quarterbacks and young quarterbacks, so he knows how to deal with any type of signal caller.

This would be perfect

This would be perfect for young quarterback Drake Maye to play with an experienced center who has had to deal with some young quarterbacks before. Bradbury can give tips on how other quarterbacks do things while also being able to protect Maye very well. Drake Maye is also arguably the most talented quarterback that Bradbury would have played with.

Bradbury is 6-3 300 pounds, and only 29 years old. He is an absolute unit to put in front of Drake Maye, and with his pass-protection abilities, once he and Maye form a connection, they should be a hard duo to shake up. Bradbury is also one of the best run-blocking centers in the league and could help the Patriots reestablish their run game.

With the Patriots now in need of a center and most likely not wanting to have to draft one, Bradbury might be their best option. He may cost a little bit of money, but to lock down their center for the next few years, it is worth it to give out a long-term deal.
