Toronto Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is having a productive Spring Training. Entering his seventh MLB season, the right-handed slugger is hitting .314 this spring and has driven in five runs. Guerrero finished sixth in American League MVP voting, as his 166 OPS+ was the second-best mark of his career.
Turning 26 years old on Sunday, Guerrero is said to be seeking the third-largest contract in MLB history. The four-time All-Star is prepared to enter free agency after this season, and told reporters the Blue Jays never came close to offering his desired contract extension (via ESPN’s Jeff Passan).

It was reported on Tuesday by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic that Guerrero is seeking $500 million in present value, which reportedly differs from the offer Toronto made. Per Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Blue Jays offered Guerrero “about $500 million” in significantly deferred money.
After this news, a new report revealed the Blue Jays have made the major decision to increase their offer.
“SOURCE: The #BlueJays are planning to make a new offer to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which will be close to what he is looking for,” MLB insider Hector Gomez reported. “According to the source, the Jays’ offer would be in the range of 14-15 years and $550-600 million.”
