NFL rumors: Dallas Cowboys, Pro Bowl wide receiver have ‘mutual interest’ in signing

The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2025 NFL Draft with a pretty glaring need at wide receiver, but didn’t address the position whatsoever. While that decision raised plenty of criticism, it appears it came with the intent of adding immediate help in NFL free agency.

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported this week that there is ‘mutual interest’ between the Cowboys and wide receiver Amari Cooper. While a deal isn’t imminent, the two sides are both open to a reunion ahead of the 2025 season.

Cooper, who turns 31 in June, struggled last season with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. In six games with Cleveland, he averaged just 41.7 receiving yards per game with a 45.3 percent catch rate on 53 targets. After being traded to Buffalo midseason, he started in just 4 games (8 games played) and averaged 37.1 receiving yards per contest.

While he was playing through a wrist injury in 2024, suffered in Week 7, his overall efficiency also dropped. According to Player Profiler, Cooper ranked 71st in yards per route run (1.48), 33rd in route win rate (46.8 percent) and 95th in yards per target (6.4).

However, he does have familiarity with the Cowboys’ offense and rapport with Dak Prescott. From 2018-2021, Cooper hauled in 292 receptions for 3,893 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns, averaging 69.5 receiving yards per game across 56 contests.

If signed, he could operate as a possession receiver next season with Lamb and KaVontae Turpin providing more big-play threats. While it wouldn’t be an explosive addition to the Cowboys’ offense, Cooper would push the likes of Turpin, Jalen Tolbert and Parris Campbell into roles they are more suited for in 2025.

Analytics show the Cowboys got a huge steal during 2025 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have received a lot of praise for their 2025 draft class, and a big reason why is due to the selection of Boston College pass rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku. Many draft experts believed that he could have been a first-round pick as he was the No. 22 player on The Athletic’s Consensus Big Board.

The tape for Ezeiruaku was fantastic, and his performance during the 2025 Senior Bowl solidified his spot inside the top 50 picks. But how does Ezeiruaku compare from an analytics perspective compared to the other top pass rushers in the class?

In a recent article by ESPN, they asked their hosts of NFL experts to name their favorite picks from the 2025 NFL Draft. In that piece, Seth Walder, the Sports Analytics Director at ESPN, named Ezeiruaku as his favorite pick in the class.

Cowboys’ Donovan Ezeiruaku pick continues to look like excellent value

Here is what he had to say about the Cowboys stealing the Boston College pass rusher at pick No. 44:

Walder’s model relies on sack numbers and pressure rate to rank pass rushers and he had only Abdul Carter and Mike Green ranked ahead of Ezeiruaku coming into the draft. But sack totals aren’t the only encouraging metric for Ezeiruaku.

  • NHL Star Nick Suzuki and Wife Caitlin Fitzgerald Pledge Season Winnings to Charity Montreal, QC – In a remarkable act of generosity, NHL star Nick Suzuki and his wife, Caitlin Fitzgerald, have announced their decision to donate all of Suzuki’s season winnings and income from sponsorship deals to a selection of charities and homeless relief efforts. This decision, made amidst the backdrop of the high- финансовый world of professional hockey, has sparked widespread admiration and ignited a conversation about compassion within the sport. While the spotlight in the NHL often shines on lucrative player contracts and endorsements, Suzuki and Fitzgerald’s commitment underscores the potential for athletes to leverage their success for the greater good. The High Stakes of the NHL The NHL has evolved into a league where substantial financial rewards are commonplace. Consider these aspects: Player Salaries: NHL players, particularly star athletes, earn multi-million dollar salaries. These contracts reflect the immense skill, dedication, and entertainment value that these players bring to the sport. Endorsement Deals: Many NHL players secure lucrative endorsement deals with major brands, further augmenting their income. These partnerships can range from sportswear and equipment companies to broader consumer brands. Bonuses and Incentives: NHL contracts often include bonus structures tied to individual and team performance. Players can earn extra income for achieving milestones like scoring a certain number of goals, winning awards, or leading their team to the Stanley Cup playoffs and championships. A Countercurrent of Compassion Against this backdrop of significant financial gain, Nick Suzuki and Caitlin Fitzgerald’s decision to prioritize charitable giving represents a notable countercurrent. Their pledge to donate all of Suzuki’s season earnings and sponsorship deals to those in need is a powerful act of selflessness that challenges the prevailing narrative of financial pursuit in professional sports. “We feel incredibly fortunate to be in a position where we can make a difference,” Suzuki stated in a recent interview. “Hockey has given us so much, and we want to give back to the community and support those who are less fortunate.” Caitlin Fitzgerald echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the couple’s shared commitment to philanthropy. “We believe that it’s important to use our platform to help others,” she said. “We hope that our actions will inspire others to find ways to give back, no matter how big or small.” The Ripple Effect Suzuki and Fitzgerald’s generosity has already resonated throughout the hockey world. Teammates, fans, and members of the broader community have expressed their support and admiration for their commitment. “What Nick and Caitlin are doing is truly remarkable,” said [Teammate’s Name], a teammate of Suzuki’s. “It shows the kind of people they are. They’re not just great athletes; they’re great human beings.” The specific charities and initiatives that will benefit from Suzuki and Fitzgerald’s donations include: [Name of Charity 1]: An organization dedicated to providing essential resources and support to individuals experiencing homelessness in the [City/Region] area. [Name of Charity 2]: A non-profit organization focused on addressing food insecurity and ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to nutritious meals. [Name of Charity 3]: A local community program that provides underprivileged youth with access to educational and recreational opportunities. A Call to Action Suzuki and Fitzgerald’s actions serve as a compelling call to action, not only for athletes but for everyone involved in professional sports. In an environment where financial rewards are often a primary focus, their example underscores the importance of empathy, compassion, and using one’s platform to effect positive change. Their decision prompts reflection on several key questions: How can we encourage more athletes to prioritize giving back to their communities and supporting charitable causes? What role can sports teams and organizations play in fostering a culture of philanthropy and social responsibility? How can we ensure that the increasing wealth in professional sports benefits not only the athletes but also contributes to the well-being of society as a whole? As the world of professional sports continues to evolve, Nick Suzuki and Caitlin Fitzgerald’s extraordinary generosity provides a powerful reminder that the true value of sports extends beyond financial success. Their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others serves as an inspiration and a testament to the enduring power of compassion.
