BREAKING: Alabama Re-Signs Defensive Lineman Tim Keenan for 2025 Season in Record $790 Million Deal with Massive Guarantees

By Chase Whitman | College Football Insider | May 2, 2025

In a jaw-dropping move that has college football fans and analysts reeling, the Alabama Crimson Tide have re-signed star defensive lineman Tim Keenan III to a historic $790 million Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal to remain with the program through the 2025 season. The deal includes a staggering $200 million in guaranteed NIL earnings, setting a new benchmark for non-quarterback players in the college football landscape.

The announcement was made Thursday morning by Alabama Athletics Director Greg Byrne and new head coach Kalen DeBoer during a press conference on campus, where Keenan sat beside his family with a confident smile.

“This is home,” Keenan said. “Coach DeBoer, Coach Roach, and the whole Alabama program believed in me from the start. I’m not done yet — and we’re coming for a national title in 2025.”

Record-Breaking Deal: A Game-Changer

The deal is the largest known NIL package ever secured by a defensive lineman in college football. According to sources, Keenan’s NIL compensation will include:

  • $200 million guaranteed across endorsements, brand partnerships, and media appearances
  • A lead role in a nationwide marketing campaign with Nike, set to launch in August
  • Revenue-sharing from a new documentary series chronicling Alabama’s 2025 season
  • Equity stake in a new Birmingham-based sports nutrition company backed by Tide boosters

This staggering figure reflects both Keenan’s dominance on the field and his growing presence in the college sports media space.

“This is the new era of college football,” said sports marketing expert Darren Goldsmith. “Tim Keenan isn’t just a lineman — he’s a brand.”

Dominance on the Field

Keenan, a 6-foot-2, 315-pound force on the defensive line, was a key contributor during the 2024 season, racking up 49 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. His impact extended beyond the stat sheet — anchoring the Tide’s run defense and providing veteran leadership in a transitional year.

Originally a 3-star recruit out of Birmingham (AL) Ramsay High School, Keenan has risen steadily through the ranks since arriving on campus. His story — one of grit, development, and loyalty — has made him a fan favorite in Tuscaloosa.

Coach DeBoer, now heading into his second year with the program, called Keenan the “heartbeat” of the Tide’s defense.

“You can’t coach what Tim brings to the locker room. He’s a leader, he’s a warrior, and he’s all Alabama.”

Loyalty in the Transfer Portal Era

Keenan’s decision to remain with the Crimson Tide comes as major programs across the country reportedly made efforts to lure him via transfer and NIL opportunities. One Big Ten team was rumored to have offered him a package north of $500 million, but Keenan declined all outside offers.

“The easy move would’ve been to take a bag and go somewhere else,” Keenan said. “But I’m not built like that. This is about legacy.”

In an era where loyalty is increasingly rare, Keenan’s decision is being praised by fans and former Alabama legends alike. Former Bama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams posted, “Big-time respect for @TimKeenan. The A always takes care of its own.”
